Alterations specialist, Tailor, seamstress

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Alterations Specialist, Tailor, or Seamstress to join us. In this role, you will make necessary alterations to garmets. Wedding dress and ballroom dress experience is a plus. Responsibilities Measure customers accurately to determine necessary alterations and adjustments. Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications. Perform garment construction tasks such as hemming, taking in or letting out seams, replacing zippers, and repairing tears or damages. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including sewing stations and tools. Manage multiple alteration projects efficiently while adhering to quality standards. Keep detailed records of each alteration order for tracking and quality control purposes. Experience Proven experience in sewing, garment construction, or tailoring within a retail or professional environment or be trained to do so. Familiarity with sewing machines, including operation and troubleshooting. Strong understanding of fabric types, garment fitting techniques, and basic math skills for measurements and adjustments. Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
