Overview Join our dynamic team as a Seamstress Tailor Sewist Alterations Specialist, where your craftsmanship and attention to detail will transform garments into perfect fits for our valued customers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your sewing expertise in a fast-paced, fashion retail environment. You will be responsible for performing clothing alterations, garment repairs, and custom tailoring with precision and care, ensuring every piece meets our high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Your skills will help bring confidence and style to our clients through expertly crafted clothing adjustments and customizations. Responsibilities Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, and repairing garments across various fabric materials. Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to achieve precise stitching and finishing touches. Operate pressing machines and press garments to ensure a professional presentation after alterations. Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs, provide expert advice on fabric materials, and ensure their expectations are met or exceeded. Maintain a clean, organized workspace with proper handling of fabrics and sewing tools for efficient workflow. Assist in garment construction or custom apparel production when required, applying knowledge of garment sewing and construction techniques. Follow safety protocols when operating machinery such as sewing machines and pressers, ensuring a safe working environment. Requirements Proven experience in fashion retail or clothing alterations with a strong background in garment sewing and construction. Skilled in using sewing machines, hand sewing tools, pressing machines, and press operation techniques. Knowledge of fabric materials, stitching methods, and garment fitting adjustments. Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and alterations accurately. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients. Familiarity with men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, and custom apparel production is preferred. Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines.
