Founded in 1979, Summit is known for design excellence and exceptional craftsmanship, using responsibly sourced premium plantation-grown teak and high-performance outdoor fabrics to create bespoke furniture designed to last for generations. About the Role We are looking for an experienced Industrial Sewing & Upholstery Team Member to support the production of premium cushions, pillows, furniture covers, and other sewn components for Summit Furniture's outdoor furniture collections. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and enjoys creating high-quality finished products. You'll work with industrial sewing equipment, patterns, performance fabrics, foam, and other upholstery materials while supporting both standard production and custom projects. Experience may come from a variety of backgrounds, including industrial sewing, furniture upholstery, marine canvas, automotive or RV interiors, awning fabrication, custom cushions, textile fabrication, or similar production sewing environments. Sew cushions, pillows, and furniture covers incorporating features such as straps, complex seams, edge treatments, zippers, snaps, and other details. Safely operate industrial sewing equipment, which may include single-needle, double-needle, serging, walking-foot, and attachment-equipped machines. Assemble cushion cores and stuff cushions and pillows, ensuring finished products meet expectations for fit, comfort, appearance, and quality. Support custom requests and new product development by creating prototypes and first articles using technical drawings and cushion specifications. Accurately complete production documentation, including cut logs, lot tracking, labeling, and production notes. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established safety practices, machine procedures, and preventive maintenance expectations. Collaborate with team members across the operation to support changing production needs and on-time delivery. What We're Looking For Preferred Experience 3+ years of industrial sewing, upholstery, cushion fabrication, or related production sewing experience preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered. Experience working with industrial sewing machines and a variety of sewing techniques, which may include standard seams, straps, edge treatments, zippers, snaps, quilted details, and other sewn components. Experience working with materials such as performance outdoor fabrics, outdoor faux leather, mesh, nylon webbing, upholstery fabrics, or similar durable materials. Experience reading and working from patterns, fabric details, technical drawings, production notes, or product specifications. Experience with pattern creation or alteration is a plus. What Will Help You Succeed Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Dependability and punctuality. Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative production team. Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing production priorities. Pride in craftsmanship and an interest in creating premium finished products. Physical Requirements This position involves hands-on production work. Team members must be able to: Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. as required to perform the essential functions of the role. Pull, manipulate, fold, and position fabric, foam, fabric rolls, and other production materials. Use hands and arms repetitively for sewing, cutting, stuffing, assembly, and material-handling activities. Sit for extended periods while operating industrial sewing machines and related equipment. Safely perform the physical activities required to operate equipment and produce finished products. Equal Opportunity Employer Summit Furniture is an equal opportunity employer.
