Van Conversion Technician Camplife Customs - 5.0 San Diego, CA Job Details Full-time $25 - $35 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Van Conversion Technician — Custom Builds & Service We build custom vans from bare metal to finished rig, and we keep a steady flow of smaller jobs coming through the shop — window and vent cutouts, plumbing systems, seat installs, suspension, roof racks, mule carriers, and service work on vans and RVs. No two days look the same here. That's the job, and that's the appeal. What you'd actually be doing Cutting in and installing windows, roof vents, and fans on van roofs and walls Building and installing fresh water, grey water, and pump/heater plumbing systems Installing swivel seats, bench seats, and seat bases Suspension work — lift kits, shocks, springs, alignment prep Mounting roof racks, ladders, awnings, and mule carriers Assisting on 12V electrical — battery banks, solar, wiring runs, fusing Service and repair jobs on customer vans and RVs, from quick fixes to teardowns Pitching in on full custom builds alongside the rest of the crew Some weeks you're deep in one big build. Some weeks you knock out six different service jobs. You need to be good with both. Who we're looking for The honest version: we care more about how you show up than what's already on your resume. We want someone who brings the same energy to a $400 vent install as they do to a $90,000 full build. Someone who doesn't need to be chased, doesn't cut corners when nobody's looking, and would rather ask a question than guess wrong on a customer's van.

You should have:

Hands-on mechanical or trade experience — automotive, RV, marine, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, construction, fabrication, or a similar hands-on background Comfort with power tools, hand tools, measuring, and working to a line Willingness to cut a hole in a $60,000 van and own the result A valid driver's license and a clean enough record to move customer vehicles The ability to switch tasks without losing steam Nice to have, but we'll teach the right person: Van conversion or RV upfit experience 12V DC electrical — wiring, solar, battery systems Potable water plumbing and PEX Suspension and chassis work Reading build plans and cut lists If you've got 60% of this list and the right attitude, apply anyway. We've trained good people up before and we'd rather do that than hire someone skilled who drags the shop down.
