About the Position The Wood Finisher is responsible for the preparation and finishing of custom wood products in accordance with Scobis quality standards. Working closely with the Wood Worker team, this position ensures all products receive the proper stain, paint, lacquer, or protective finish required to meet customer specifications and project requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, maintains a high standard of craftsmanship, and contributes to efficient production operations. If you bring prior woodworking, cabinetry, or millwork experience, you will apply those skills right away and take on more advanced tasks, including operating specialized machinery and helping guide less experienced team members. Responsibilities Prepare wood surfaces through sanding, filling, cleaning, and inspection. Apply stains, paints, dyes, sealers, lacquers, and other finishes to custom wood products. Match finish samples and customer specifications for color, sheen, and texture. Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with Scobis quality standards. Perform touch-ups and corrections as required before final shipment. Operate and maintain spray equipment, sanding equipment, and finishing tools. Follow work orders, drawings, and production schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Work collaboratively with Wood Workers and other production team members to ensure project deadlines are met. Follow all company safety policies and procedures regarding equipment, chemicals, and personal protective equipment. Qualifications Experience in wood finishing, cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, millwork, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of finishing materials, application techniques, and wood characteristics. Ability to read and understand production documents and specifications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work on your feet throughout the workday Ability to bend, reach, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive movements Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and position heavy lumber, doors, and materials, including items exceeding 50 pounds Ability to safely maneuver large or awkward items independently or with team assistance or material handling equipment Ability to work around wood dust and machinery and wear required personal protective equipment Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation Compensation and Benefits Compensation based on experience and skill level Benefits offered by the company at the time of employment, subject to eligibility requirements and applicable plan terms Opportunities for wage growth as skills and responsibilities increase Additional hours may be available as production needs require Hands on training and mentorship from experienced woodworkers Opportunity to build a long term career in custom woodworking Equal Opportunity Employer Scobis Millwork
