Nesco Resource is hiring a 1st shift Sander for UPH Sanding for our local Client in
Conover, NC Pay:
$16.00 hour•if solid work history, experience•will discuss a higher rate
Hours:
Monday•Friday 7:00 a.m.•3:30 p.m. Position Summary The Upholstery Sander is responsible for preparing exposed wood components on upholstered furniture prior to finishing. This role sands chair legs, exposed frames, trim pieces, and other visible wood surfaces to ensure a smooth, consistent appearance that meets Vanguard Furniture's luxury quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sand exposed wood components on upholstered furniture, including legs, arms, trim, and frames. Remove rough edges, glue residue, machining marks, and other imperfections. Prepare wood surfaces for stain and finish application. Inspect components for cosmetic defects and report issues requiring repair. Follow sanding specifications to preserve product dimensions and design details. Handle upholstered furniture carefully to avoid damage to fabric, leather, foam, or finished components. Maintain sanding tools and equipment in safe operating condition. Keep work area clean and organized. Follow all company quality standards and safety procedures. Meet daily production and quality goals. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Manufacturing or furniture experience preferred but not required. Ability to operate hand and power sanding tools safely. Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of proper sanding techniques. Ability to recognize cosmetic defects. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand motions. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Ability to work around wood dust, production equipment, and moderate noise levels. Must wear required
