Performs skirt attachment and general utility functions within the Upholstery Department to support the efficient production of quality upholstered furniture. Responsible for attaching fabric skirts to upholstered furniture according to specifications while assisting with various production tasks, material handling, and maintaining an organized and safe work area.
Position Responsibilities:
Attach fabric skirts to upholstered furniture using sewing machines, staple guns, or other appropriate tools and equipment. Follow work orders, patterns, specifications, and established procedures to ensure skirts are properly positioned, aligned, and securely attached. Inspect completed work to ensure proper fit, appearance, and quality standards are met. Make adjustments or corrections as needed to ensure finished products meet company standards. Move fabric, furniture frames, cushions, and other materials to and from production and storage areas. Assist upholstery team members with various production and utility tasks as needed. Prepare and organize materials needed for production. Maintain an adequate supply of materials at assigned work areas. Identify and report damaged, defective, or missing materials to the appropriate supervisor. Assist with moving completed furniture between workstations and production areas. Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment. Meet established production, quality, and attendance standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Upholstery Supervisor or department leadership.
Qualifications:
Previous upholstery, sewing, furniture manufacturing, or production experience preferred but not required. Ability to learn and follow upholstery procedures and product specifications. Ability to operate basic hand tools and production equipment. Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Ability to recognize quality issues and make appropriate adjustments. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Ability to work independently while also supporting a team. Reliable attendance and willingness to follow established work schedules and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and use hands and arms repetitively. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and furniture components as required. Ability to work with fabric, upholstery materials, hand tools, and production equipment. Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
