Job Description
Job Summary
The Upholstery Technician position requires a thorough understanding of aircraft interiors in addition to an advanced knowledge of upholstered items found in aircraft interiors. Modifications, repair, refurbishment and reinstallation of interior components are primary functions. Evaluate and adjust on modifications essential.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform complete upholstery refurbishment of aircraft seats from start to finish. Such duties include inspection, disassembly and assembly, prep work, foam work, patterning, sewing and installation of dress covers
Possess a working familiarity with different seat styles typical to aircraft
Diagnose seat problems in and out of the aircraft and perform necessary corrective actions
Possess a thorough understanding of FAA flammability requirements for all materials used
Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling when required
Performs basic stripping operations of fabric from aircraft surfaces to prepare for remodeling and recovering
Work with leather and fabrics to refurbish aircraft seating to high quality levels
Patterns, cuts, sews, cements, and trims upholstery fabrics for drapery, divans, chairs, headliners, side panels, containers, and engine and propeller covers
Assists in covering flight control surfaces
Perform routing and complex sewing operations
Documents all work accomplished in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
Works with team in order to complete established goals
Ability to attain and retain AOA badge or Airport requirements
5+ years sewing and pattern-making experience preferred

Requirements
ANY Industry Upholstery experience a PLUS!
Aircraft Upholstery exp. Desired!
MUST Have Experience with Sewing & decorative stitches (including French seam/top stitch, welt stitch, pleated vinyl/button fitting)
MUST Have Experience working with various fabrics (including high-end leathers, vinyl, etc.)
Experience working with High-end Fabrics including High-end Leather, Foam Building, Seats, Panels, Modifications, repair, refurbishment and reinstallation of interior components are primary functions. Aerospace experience preferred
Knowledge of materials and foams used in aviation
Knowledge of repairs and techniques used on various seat styles
1 - 2 years heavy modifications preferred
Work independently on projects when required
Must be willing to work any shift including unscheduled overtime, nonscheduled work days and holidays as needed
