Job Description
HMF Racing builds performance exhaust systems and fabricates protection equipment for ATVs and UTVs. Every product we ship is welded in-house right here in Berea. If you want to see the parts you built out on real machines, this is that kind of shop
- small team, direct communication, and real ownership of your work. What you'll be doing: You'll TIG weld both sides of what we build: exhaust components like headers, mid-pipes, mufflers and tips, plus equipment
- bumpers, tire racks, light guards, sliders and the rest of our ATV and UTV protection line. Everything runs off fixtures on production runs. The work spans three materials and three very different heat settings: Stainless steel, .035"
- thin-wall exhaust tubing, the least forgiving material on the floor Mild steel, .095"
- bumpers, tire racks, light guards and sliders Aluminum, .120"
- requires a clean switchover and a different technique
Responsibilities:
TIG weld stainless, mild steel and aluminum to production specs across the gauges above Work from fixtures, checking that parts are seated and the fit-up is right before striking an arc Fill and bridge a gap neatly when fit-up isn't perfect
- close it with a clean, even bead rather than undercut, excess buildup or burn-through Maintain consistent, clean bead appearance on cosmetic, customer-facing welds Keep welds and surrounding material clean and free of contaminants ahead of powder coat Inspect your own work for distortion, burn-through and dimensional accuracy Set and adjust machine parameters for material type and thickness Keep your station, tooling and consumables organized and stocked Flag part, material, or fixture problems to the lead promptly Follow all safety and PPE requirements What we're looking for: Ability to TIG weld consistently and repeatably•steady hands, good torch control Can fill a gap cleanly when the fit-up isn't perfect and still leave a bead we'd ship Comfortable measuring with a tape, calipers, and squares Attention to detail and pride in weld quality Reliable attendance Open to possible overtime based on what production requires•it isn't guaranteed, but it does come up Able to sit at a welding bench for a full 8-hour shift and lift up to 50 lbs High school diploma or GED Preferred, not required: 2+ years of production TIG experience on thin-wall stainless Aluminum TIG experience Exhaust, tubing or thin-gauge fabrication background Trade school or vocational welding certificate Fixture, jig or tack-up experience New to TIG?
If you have a welding background and the hand skill, we'll train you on our processes, materials and quality standards. Bring the fundamentals and the work ethic
- we'll teach you the rest.
Where you land in the range depends on your TIG experience and how you perform on the weld test.
Interview process:
candidates complete a hands-on TIG weld test as part of the interview.
