Role Overview:

The Piper at RAE Corporation is responsible for mounting all major components, installing interconnecting piping, soldering, and pressure testing for commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. This role requires the ability to read engineering drawings, operate piping tools, and ensure all components are assembled according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Component Mounting and Piping Installation:

Mount all major components and install interconnecting piping based on engineering drawings. Read and understand bills of material for accurate assembly.

Soldering and Pressure Testing:

Perform soldering and pressure testing on HVAC and refrigeration units to ensure proper functionality.

Tool Operation:

Operate pipe cutters, threaders, torches, and all required equipment efficiently and safely.

Quality Assurance:

Check work for accuracy and ensure quality in assembly, matching equipment serial numbers to engineering drawings and bills of material. Sign off on all administrative paperwork upon job completion.

Unit Layout and Functionality:

Determine appropriate unit layout based on engineering drawings to ensure optimal functionality and serviceability.

Team Collaboration and Support:

Work with other team members to achieve production goals and complete related functions as needed. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Documentation and Time Management:

Charge time accurately in the time and attendance system to ensure accurate labor distribution and payroll. Follow manufacturing instructions, complete job assignments on time, and maintain accountability for tools and equipment.

General Responsibilities:

Follow all company policies and government regulations. Work overtime as necessary and attend work regularly. Care for tools and advise maintenance of any malfunctioning equipment. Keep the work area clean and orderly as required.

Education & Experience:

A high school diploma is preferred, as it offers a foundation for upward advancement in the company. The ability to understand and follow directions is essential.

Skills:

Effective communication and listening skills. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and engineering drawings. Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to measure accurately to 1/16 of an inch. Ability to operate equipment efficiently and assess performance to identify improvements or take corrective actions.

Certificates, Licenses, or Training:

On-site training provided for all necessary tasks.

Working Environment:

The Piper works in an industrial production area and is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level is high in some areas, and the role involves exposure to extreme temperatures during both winter and summer. The employee must handle the pressure of meeting deadlines and maintaining product quality standards. Seasonal variations in production demand may result in fluctuating work hours.

Other Physical Requirements:
