Shop Helper

Shop Helper Job & Duties Description An Entry level role designed for someone taking their first steps into the Metal Fabrication industry. The main responsibility of a Helper is to learn and implement all the skills and processes of the Welding and Fabrication team to become an asset to the company. During the course of employment, they will learn shop etiquette as well as how to read and interpret basic shop drawings and sketches. Most importantly, Helpers will take directions from senior members of the Fabrication Team, including Lead Fabricators, Shop Supervisors, and Office Staff to learn and fulfill basic tasks. It will also be the Helpers responsibility to help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop, resetting the shop floor on a daily basis. Helpers will also work with the team in a support role on installations, maintenance, and any other task within the purview of the fabrication team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Consistently following instructions from more senior members on the fabrication team Learning how to properly use tools and equipment to achieve professional results, in a safe manner. General upkeep and maintenance of all shop tools and equipment Grind, clean, and finish work, as needed. Learning to identify and properly manipulate a wide variety of materials for specific projects. Adhering to Shop and OSHA standards, and all other safety and operations standards, including Company policies and procedures Broad duties of Helpers include: Deliveries and pickups (Valid Driver's License Req) Metalwork Material management Finishing Entry level Welding Shop organization Cleaning Other misc. duties/tasks needed for specific project.

Qualifications:

A passion for learning and a drive to build and create. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Good time management skills and punctuality Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in front Senior shop staff. Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment. Adept at taking initiative and doing a required task to the best of his or her ability. Ability to operate, or willingness to be trained on a forklift. Ability to read tape measures, angle finders, and other layout tools. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to work some overtime, on the occasion it's necessary to meet a project or deliverable deadline. Eagerness to show up to work every day and on time.

Pay:

$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
