Stitcher for Drape Shop

Job Description

At Bellevue Lighting and Stage (BLS), we don't just sew fabric — we craft custom draperies and soft goods that define theatres, venues, and creative spaces across the country. From grand stage curtains to one-of-a-kind design pieces, our Drape Department turns creative ideas into reality through precision, teamwork, and craftsmanship. We are looking for a Drape Shop Stitcher to be a crucial part-time member of our team, responsible for manufacturing, altering, and repairing draperies and other soft-goods. This position requires a strong foundation in sewing techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately within deadlines. This position reports directly to our experienced Drape Shop Manager.
Responsibilities:
Fabric Handling:
Select and measure specified fabric for projects. Cut fabrics accurately and efficiently. Handle fabrics with care to prevent damage.
Sewing:
Sew draperies and other soft goods according to verbal instruction, build paperwork guidelines, and our standard finishes. Repair damaged draperies and curtains, ensuring they are restored to their original condition.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications. Identify and correct any defects or errors. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Drape Shop Manager.
Teamwork:
Collaborate with other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard. Assist with inventory management and organization of the drape shop.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
  • Significant sewing experience, ideally on industrial sewing machines.
  • Excellent basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to shift gears between projects as timelines or production demands require.
  • Experience in a drapery or upholstery shop is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a theatrical environment is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Growth Pay:
20-25 per hour (based on experience)
