At HVSE, we believe that the veterinary assistant is one of many vital roles in a veterinary hospital, and we rely on their knowledge, support, team work, integrity, and compassion in order to operative effectively. PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 18 years old. Enjoys working with animals. Comfortable in emergency situations. Has a high level of professionalism. Has excellent client communication skills. Has a desire to advance, learn, and help educate others. Works well in a team environment.
Physical Effort :
Work requires lifting and carrying animals up to 40 lbs. Walks or stands for extended periods of time.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Provide compassionate care to patients and clients. Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner. Maintain accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy. Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas. Help perform physical assessments. Effectively and safely restrain pets of different temperaments. Keeps the hospital clean and orderly to prevent contamination or infections. Can explain necessary follow-up and homecare instructions. Prepare clinical laboratory procedures. Perform and/or assist in radiology procedures. Understands the maintenance of IV catheters and IV fluid therapy. Ensures that patients are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state.
