We are a busy equine practice providing ambulatory, hospital, emergency, surgical, and sports medicine services. This position is ideal for someone who loves working with horses, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and wants to be an active part of a collaborative veterinary team. What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate: Has 5+ years of hands-on horse handling experience Is confident and safety-conscious working around a variety of horses Is hardworking, dependable, organized, and willing to jump in wherever needed Brings a positive attitude to work and is a true team player Communicates professionally with clients and coworkers Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly Has open availability and can work the schedule required by the practice Must be available for overnight shifts Must have the availability to make this position a primary work commitment; we are unable to build the position around school schedules or another job Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is strongly preferred, but extensive horse experience, a willingness to learn, and the right attitude are equally important. Job Responsibilities This is a hands-on position with responsibilities throughout the hospital, ambulatory service, and client experience.
Duties include:
Providing daily patient care and monitoring hospitalized horses Safely handling and restraining equine patients Completing treatment sheets and medical record notes accurately and on time Administering oral and injectable medications as directed by a veterinarian Monitoring patients and communicating changes or concerns to the veterinary team Cleaning and maintaining stalls, treatment areas, equipment, and hospital spaces Performing inventory counts and helping maintain appropriate supply levels Stocking veterinary vehicles, treatment areas, pharmacy supplies, and the clinic Creating and reviewing client invoices Assisting with client communication and updates Keeping track of the daily appointment schedule and helping the veterinary team stay organized Preparing and filling out prescription labels Helping prepare equipment and supplies for appointments, emergencies, procedures, and hospitalized patients Supporting veterinarians and fellow technicians wherever needed throughout the day
