Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and Technician, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this vital role, you will assist with a wide range of clinical procedures, provide compassionate animal handling, and support the daily operations of our veterinary practice. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, pet-centered setting while contributing to animal welfare and veterinary excellence. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including surgery, medication administration, IV insertion, animal restraint, and catheterization. Handle animals safely and compassionately, ensuring proper restraint and behavior management during exams and treatments. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards by performing thorough cleaning of kennels, treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment using proper aseptic techniques. Support record keeping by accurately documenting patient histories, treatment notes, medication logs, and client communications. Provide pet care services such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior to promote comfort and well-being. Manage front desk duties including client communication, appointment scheduling, billing support, and answering inquiries professionally. Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, watering, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring proper animal welfare practices are followed. Support critical care procedures for animals requiring intensive monitoring or specialized treatment in veterinary critical care settings. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately to ensure safety for both staff and animals during all procedures. Requirements Prior kennel experience or animal handling background is highly desirable. Experience working as a veterinary technician or in a veterinary clinic setting is preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques is essential. Hands-on experience with surgery preparation, medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and animal restraint is required. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Ability to handle dogs confidently and manage various animal behaviors with patience and professionalism. Familiarity with front desk operations including record keeping and client service is a plus. Commitment to animal welfare principles with an understanding of pet care best practices. Willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary critical care and advanced animal husbandry techniques. Pay:
$15.50 - $17.50 per hour
