PURPOSE/FUNCTION
Will assist our veterinarians and RVT's with examing, treating, and caring for animals. The responsibilities vary with the current needs of the clinic staff and the individual abilities demonstrated by the employee.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients; hazards associated with infected animals and controlled substances; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises; exposure to bites, scratches, and animal wastes; possible exposure to contagious diseases and parasites. Must be patient & tolerant of loud environments (barking), dog waste, odor, and hair. Requires daily use of protective clothing and equipment. Physical effort is required to lift/carry animals and equipment of 50 lbs. or more with assistance. The job requires standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, and heavy lifting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Provide medical care and monitor the health and welfare of animals under the direction of the staff veterinarians. Administers treatment, including oral and injectable medications, vaccines and microchips, etc. Set up prep and surgery rooms, and clean rooms after procedures. Maintain all medical equipment used, clean instruments, and order supplies as directed. Keep surgical supplies up to date for everyday use, including packs, drapes, and gowns. Assist in surgeries and monitors animals before, during, and post-surgery. Assist with dental cleanings and routine lab tests including fecal analysis, x-rays, blood work, and cytology. Will move animals from and to cages when treatment is required. Assist with or perform euthanasia when required. Ability to handle and restrain cats and dogs for examination, treatment, vaccination, and other medical procedures. Work cohesively withall departments to meet the mission,vision, and goals of the

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED required. Experience as a Veterinary Technician or an Assistant is required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be team-oriented with a positive attitude, and possess a passion to provide quality care to animals. Must be responsible and able to work alone when/where needed. Must be able to lift 50lbs or more with assistance. Will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Multitasking and accepting constructive criticism are essential. Possess understanding and dedication to the philosophies of the CCSPCA. Benefits $17.50/hour.
