Onsite Role Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Vivarium Technician with 1-2 years of experience in laboratory animal care. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining animal health and welfare, performing routine husbandry duties, maintaining vivarium facilities, and supporting research activities in compliance with institutional policies and applicable animal welfare regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide daily care and husbandry for laboratory animals, including feeding, watering, cage changing, sanitation, and environmental monitoring. Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, abnormal behavior, or other health concerns and promptly report findings to veterinary or research staff. Maintain clean, safe, and properly functioning animal housing areas and equipment. Perform routine cage washing, room sanitation, and facility maintenance. Accurately maintain animal records, cage cards, breeding records, and other required documentation. Assist with animal transfers, identification, weighing, and routine handling procedures. Monitor temperature, humidity, lighting, and other environmental conditions within animal rooms. Follow established SOPs, biosafety procedures, and animal welfare requirements. Assist veterinary and research personnel with routine procedures and study-related activities as trained. Receive and acclimate incoming animals according to facility procedures. Maintain an appropriate inventory of animal care supplies, feed, bedding, and equipment. Participate in facility inspections, sanitation programs, and emergency procedures. Work collaboratively with research, veterinary, and facilities teams to maintain high standards of animal care.

Requirements and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or a related field is preferred. 1-2 years of experience working with laboratory animals or in a vivarium environment. Experience with routine laboratory animal husbandry and animal handling. Knowledge of basic animal health, welfare, and sanitation practices. Ability to accurately follow SOPs and maintain detailed records. Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize changes in animal behavior or health. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to lift and handle animal cages and supplies, and perform physically demanding duties as required. Willingness to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends or holidays, as required by animal care needs. Bayside Solutions, Inc. is not able to sponsor any candidates at this time.
