EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED minimum Veterinary assistant, 2+ years (Required) Please provide previous employment references
BASIC JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Great communication skills and a positive attitude Ability to multitask and work efficiently alone and as a team Responsible and punctual Detail-oriented and organized Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS JOB
Medical record keeping (experience with Sheperd , Ezyvet, Avi mark , or any other veterinary practice software a plus) Provide proper patient restraint during procedures and examinations Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs) Prepare and administer vaccinations and other routine medical treatments Prepare medications as directed by our veterinarians Prepare and assist our veterinarians with surgical or other medical procedures (i.e. dental cleanings) Monitor patients under anesthesia, post-op, and hospitalized patients Place IV catheters and properly care for them Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests Effectively position for and take radiographs Understands usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and can readily explain them to the clients Gives SQ, IM and IV injections Provide compassionate care to patients and clients Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees Admit patients following hospital policy and doctors written orders Related keywords: veterinary technician, animal, veterinary, veterinary assistant, vet tech
