$26-29 for VA and $30-35 for RVT, based on credentials and experience Position Overview Buena Vet Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Registered Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in providing excellent patient care, communicates professionally with clients and coworkers, and works well in a collaborative hospital environment. Qualified applicants must have previous veterinary clinical experience and be proficient with AVImark veterinary practice-management software . Primary Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with appointments, examinations, treatments, and procedures. Safely handle and restrain canine and feline patients. Obtain accurate patient histories and record information in AVImark. Collect blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples. Prepare and run in-house laboratory tests. Administer medications, injections, and treatments as directed and permitted by training and licensure. Place IV catheters and assist with fluid therapy. Prepare patients and equipment for surgical and dental procedures. Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures based on qualifications and assigned responsibilities. Fill prescriptions and communicate medication instructions to clients. Review treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up recommendations. Maintain complete and accurate medical records. Clean, disinfect, organize, and restock examination, treatment, surgical, and laboratory areas. Follow hospital protocols for patient safety, infection control, controlled substances, and medical documentation. Communicate promptly with veterinarians and teammates regarding changes in a patient's condition. Provide compassionate support to clients, including during stressful or emotionally difficult situations. Assist with other patient-care and hospital responsibilities as needed. Required Qualifications Current California RVT license or substantial hands-on experience working as a Veterinary Assistant. AVImark experience is required. Proficiency in common veterinary clinical and patient-care responsibilities. Strong animal-handling and restraint skills. Clear, compassionate, and professional communication. Ability to accurately follow instructions and maintain detailed medical records. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and remain organized in a busy hospital environment. Dependability, initiative, and a team-oriented attitude. Ability to work four 10-hour shifts between Monday and Friday. Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods and safely lift or assist with patients, with reasonable accommodations when appropriate.
