Position Overview We are seeking a proactive Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) to join our dedicated Specialty Surgery team in Colorado Springs. In this role, you will work alongside our board-certified surgeon and a skilled surgical team, focusing on complex orthopedic and soft tissue procedures. You will utilize the full extent of your skills, rotating through scrub assistance, patient recovery, advanced anesthesia, and surgical consultations in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities Surgical & Anesthetic Excellence:

Formulate, administer, and monitor tailored anesthetic protocols for complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Maintain invasive monitoring lines, manage multi-modal pain therapy, and oversee smooth inductions and recoveries.

Operating Room Support:

Maintain aseptic technique, prep surgical suites, assist with patient positioning, sterilize surgical packs, and scrub in to assist surgeons during complex orthopedic (e.g., TPLO, fracture repairs) and soft tissue (e.g., splenectomies, BOAS, thoracotomies) procedures.

Advanced Clinical Procedures:

Place peripheral and central intravenous catheters, perform diagnostic radiology (including post-operative orthopedic views), manage epidurals, run diagnostic bloodwork, and assist with regenerative medicine or specialty procedures.

Post-Operative & Critical Care:

Manage surgical recovery, administer specialized wound care, manage surgical drains, and apply orthopedic splints, soft padded bandages, and casts under DVM supervision.

Client & Case Management:

Assist with specialty surgical consultations, review pre- and post-op discharge instructions with clients, and coordinate patient care plans with referring veterinarians.

Compliance & Culture:

Follow all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, DEA, EEOC, AAHA), utilize low-stress handling techniques, and actively contribute to a positive, growth-oriented team environment.

Requirements Credentials:

Valid RVT license in the state of Colorado (with VTNE completion) OR active CVA certification.

Experience:

Prior experience in a veterinary surgical setting or specialty referral environment preferred (familiarity with orthopedic and soft tissue instrumentation is a major plus).

Compensation & Benefits Base Pay:

Between $20.00/hour to $27.00/hour (commensurate with credentialing and surgical experience). Call in

Bonus:

receive a bonus payment if called in for surgery during off hours.
