Veterinary Assistant Watertown Animal Hospital — Watertown, CT 06795 About Us Watertown Animal Hospital is a trusted, community-focused veterinary practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for our patients and their families. We're looking for a motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, animal-loving Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinarians and technicians in delivering excellent patient care. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in veterinary medicine in a supportive, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, procedures, and treatments Restrain and handle animals safely and calmly during exams, treatments, and procedures Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary hospital environment Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures Assist with taking vital signs, collecting samples, and basic lab work Maintain accurate patient records and update charts Answer phones, greet clients, and help schedule appointments as needed Educate clients on medications, home care instructions, and general pet wellness Restock and organize medical supplies and inventory Support surgical prep and recovery as directed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting preferred, but not required Certified/Registered Veterinary Assistant credential a plus Comfortable handling animals of varying temperaments and sizes Strong communication skills and a compassionate, professional manner with clients Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player Willingness to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed What We Offer A highly competitive salary with benefits such as health and dental insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, continuing education, and performance bonuses are offered for this position.
