Job Description
Job Summary Join our veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant, where your passion for animal care and enthusiasm for supporting veterinary professionals will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this energetic role, you will assist with daily clinic operations, provide exceptional animal handling, and ensure a clean, safe environment for all. Your proactive approach and dedication will help deliver top-quality veterinary services while fostering a compassionate atmosphere. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills in animal husbandry, medical procedures, and client communication within a vibrant veterinary setting. Must be able to work both 8am - 5pm shifts as well as 9am - 6pm shifts, half days on occasion. Responsibilities Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, surgeries, and procedures such as IV insertions and catheterizations. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations and treatments. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by performing thorough cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection of kennels, treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment. Support pet care activities including feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior to promote welfare. Record detailed medical information, treatment notes, medication administration logs, and client communications accurately in the clinic's record-keeping system. Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries professionally, and providing excellent customer service. Experience Previous kennel experience or hands-on animal handling experience preferred. Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience highly desirable. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior is essential. Experience with surgical support tasks such as assisting during surgeries or medication administration is a plus. Familiarity with vaccination and common diseases is a must. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration are required.
