Job Description

We are a very busy, 1 doctor full service animal hospital seeking a full time assistant. Your main responsibilities will be in the exam rooms but must be willing to learn surgery and treatments.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
  • Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
  • Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
  • Conduct laboratory tests and analyze samples
  • Assist with x-rays
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized animals
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and progress
Skills:
  • Veterinary critical care: Ability to provide specialized care for critically ill or injured animals
  • Aseptic technique: Understanding and practicing sterile techniques to prevent infection during medical procedures
  • Animal restraint: Ability to safely restrain animals during examinations or procedures
  • Animal handling: Experience in safely handling animals of different sizes and temperaments
  • Pet care: Knowledge of general pet care including feeding, exercise, and basic hygiene practices
  • Animal physiology: Understanding of the anatomy and physiological processes of different animal species Previous experience preferred.
Must be able to maintain a good attitude and confidence when dealing with stressful situations and corrections during training.
