Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team! In this vital role, you will provide exceptional animal care and support veterinary professionals in a fast-paced, pet-focused environment. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling safely and effectively across various species, including dogs, cats, and horses. Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic testing to support accurate diagnoses. Operate medical equipment including radiology (X-ray), ultrasound, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers with precision. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary protocols while monitoring animal responses during anesthesia or critical care procedures. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software for patient histories, treatment plans, laboratory results, and radiology diagnostics. Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical care, vascular access (IV insertion), and assisting with veterinary surgical procedures. Skills Extensive kennel experience combined with animal husbandry knowledge to ensure optimal patient comfort and cleanliness. Proficiency in dental terminology and assisting with dental procedures to promote oral health. Strong understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary terminology for accurate patient assessment. Experience with veterinary anesthesia monitoring, general anesthesia administration, and veterinary critical care practices. Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and animal catheterization to ensure safety during procedures. Laboratory experience including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and laboratory work supporting diagnostics. Knowledge of veterinary surgical assistance procedures along with medical equipment operation for various treatments. Ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions while demonstrating compassion and professionalism. Familiarity with veterinary software systems for scheduling, record keeping, and diagnostic data management.
