Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic testing using veterinary software. Operate medical equipment including radiology machines (X-ray), anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers to support accurate diagnostics. Administer medications, monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures (including general anesthesia), and assist with animal catheterization and IV insertions. Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical care, managing patient monitoring, and assisting with intensive care procedures. Maintain detailed records of treatments, laboratory results, radiology images, and client communications while practicing aseptic techniques throughout all procedures. Experience Prior experience is a plus Demonstrated veterinary experience or technician certification is preferred. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy enhances your ability to excel in this role. Experience with dental terminology, veterinary surgical assistance, and critical care procedures is advantageous. Knowledge of diagnostic radiology (X-ray) procedures and veterinary laboratory work supports comprehensive patient care. Strong dog handling skills and animal restraint techniques are essential for safe patient management. Ability to operate medical equipment confidently and perform venipuncture (IV insertion) with precision is required.
