out of 5 stars Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinary professionals in providing exceptional animal care, perform clinical and administrative duties, and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our animal patients. This role offers an opportunity to work with a variety of animals, including dogs and cats in a fast-paced veterinary clinic setting. Experience in veterinary assistance, animal handling, and laboratory procedures is highly valued. Duties Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments Restrain animals safely using proper techniques for various species and sizes Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinary staff Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and cleaning kennels Handle pet care responsibilities including feeding schedules and behavioral monitoring Support laboratory procedures including sample collection and processing Maintain accurate medical records and update patient files Assist at the front desk with client communication, appointment scheduling, and check-in/out processes as needed Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas ensuring aseptic techniques are followed Educate pet owners on pet care, medication administration, and post-treatment instructions Support animal restraint during diagnostic procedures such as catheterization or radiography hospital maintenance and cleaning Requirements Prior animal experience or animal husbandry background preferred Experience working as a veterinary technician or assistant in a clinical setting is highly desirable Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures Skilled in animal handling across different species including dogs, cats, and horses (equine experience is a plus) Proficient in medication administration and aseptic techniques Ability to restrain animals safely during examinations or treatments helpful Experience with pet care routines and animal catheterization is advantageous Strong communication skills for front desk duties and client interaction Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Certification or experience with veterinary critical care is a plus but not required Join our team to make a positive impact on animal health while advancing your career in veterinary medicine.
