FULL-TIME
Veterinary Assistant — and no veterinary experience is required. If you're interested in veterinary medicine, thinking about becoming a veterinary technician or veterinarian, or just know you'd rather spend your day working with animals than sitting behind a desk, this could be a great place to start. We LOVE to train! In fact, many of our veterinary technicians started right here as entry-level Veterinary Assistants and worked their way up. Others have gone on to veterinary school and careers throughout veterinary medicine. We're happy to teach you the skills. What we can't teach is work ethic, reliability, curiosity and a willingness to jump in and help. What You'll Actually Do This isn't a job where you stand around petting puppies all day. (There will be puppies. You will absolutely pet them.) Our Veterinary Assistants are an important part of the hospital team and get hands-on exposure to almost every area of veterinary medicine.
You'll:
Help care for hospitalized and boarding patients Feed, walk, bathe and handle dogs and cats Assist veterinary technicians and doctors during appointments Learn proper animal restraint and low-stress handling techniques Help prepare patients and treatment areas for procedures and surgery Clean, disinfect and maintain hospital areas and equipment Learn how a busy veterinary hospital actually works Gradually take on more responsibility as your skills grow And yes — there is cleaning. There is poop. There is laundry. There are occasionally bodily fluids we won't describe in a job ad. That's veterinary medicine. Who Does Really Well Here? You don't need veterinary experience. You DO need to be someone who: Shows up when you're scheduled and shows up on time Works hard even when nobody is watching Notices when something needs to be done and does it Isn't afraid of cleaning or physical work Can stay busy in a fast-paced environment Asks questions and genuinely wants to learn Treats animals, clients and coworkers with kindness and respect Wants to become part of a team rather than just collect a paycheck If you're the person who finishes your work and then asks "What can I help with?" — we want to meet you. Want a Career in Veterinary Medicine? This is where this position gets really exciting - we believe in developing people and promoting from within. Many of our team members began in entry-level positions and advanced as they gained knowledge and experience. If you want to learn more, we'll teach you. If you show initiative, we'll give you opportunities to grow. For someone considering veterinary technology, veterinary school or another animal-health career, you'll gain real-world veterinary experience while getting paid to learn. About Us Dunwoody Animal Medical Center is an award-winning, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital with an excellent reputation in the community. We practice high-quality medicine using modern equipment and technology, but we're equally proud of the culture we've built. We work hard. We help each other. We laugh a lot. And we genuinely like the people we work with. Our team outings have included lake days, dinners, white-water rafting, escape rooms and other adventures — because occasionally it's nice to see your coworkers when nobody is holding a Chihuahua. What We Offer Competitive compensation Health, dental and vision insurance Paid vacation and sick time Paid holidays Retirement plan Paid continuing education allowance Uniform allowance Generous personal pet discounts Hands-on training Career development and advancement opportunities A team that genuinely wants to see you succeed One Last Thing... Loving animals is a requirement. But loving animals alone isn't enough. We're looking for someone dependable, hardworking, upbeat and eager to learn — someone who wants to become genuinely good at what they do. If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you! Apply and tell us a little about yourself and why veterinary medicine interests you.
