Job Description

Overview Legacy Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, independent veterinary hospital in College Park, GA, and we're looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. We're looking for someone who loves veterinary medicine, works well in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in providing excellent patient care. At Legacy, our technicians and assistants are an important part of the medical team—we want team members who are confident in their skills, willing to learn, and ready to contribute. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, procedures, and patient care Obtain patient histories and accurately document medical information Safely restrain dogs and cats using appropriate, compassionate handling techniques Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other diagnostic samples Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture based on experience and skill level Run in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for reference laboratories Administer medications, injections, vaccines, and treatments as directed by a veterinarian Assist with digital radiographs and other diagnostic procedures Prepare patients for surgery and dental procedures Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery Assist with dental procedures and dental radiographs based on training and experience Monitor hospitalized and surgical patients Fill and prepare medications as directed Review medications, discharge instructions, and treatment plans with clients Maintain accurate medical records Keep treatment, surgery, exam, and patient-care areas clean and organized Work closely with doctors, CSRs, assistants, and other technicians to maintain efficient hospital flow Requirements Has veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience Is confident with animal restraint and patient handling Has strong venipuncture and catheter-placement skills, or is motivated to develop them Understands basic veterinary terminology, medications, and preventive care Is comfortable assisting with surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, radiology, and laboratory procedures Communicates professionally and compassionately with clients Can multitask and prioritize in a busy hospital Is dependable, punctual, and accountable Works well as part of a team Is willing to jump in and help wherever needed Takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized hospital Most importantly, genuinely cares about patients and the people who love them Licensed/credentialed veterinary technicians are encouraged to apply , but licensure is not required for all positions. Responsibilities will be based on training, experience, and applicable regulations. Why Legacy? We're community, not corporate. $20.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 38.0 per week
