Job Description

Veterinary Assistant - 3+ Years of Experience Required We're looking for an experienced, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a hands-on position in a well-established companion animal and exotic animal practice where teamwork, attention to detail, and compassionate patient care are at the heart of what we do. Our veterinary assistants are highly involved in patient care and work closely with our veterinarians throughout the day. We care for dogs, cats, birds, and a variety of exotic pets , making every day different and providing opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills across multiple species. This role includes assisting with appointments, surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, diagnostics, laboratory work, radiology, and the care of hospitalized patients. We're looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes initiative, and takes pride in providing exceptional patient care and outstanding client service. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a companion animal veterinary hospital is required. Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, digital radiography, anesthesia monitoring, and laboratory procedures is strongly preferred. Experience working with exotic animals is a plus, but we are happy to train the right candidate who is eager to learn. Strong communication and customer service skills. Able to prioritize responsibilities, stay organized during busy days, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Dependable, professional, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Dependability is essential. Regular attendance, arriving on time, and being ready to work at the start of your shift are fundamental expectations for every member of our team. Ability to safely lift and restrain dogs and cats of various sizes. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to supporting your teammates every day. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and the care of hospitalized patients. Safely restrain patients for examinations, blood draws, radiographs, nail trims, and other medical procedures. Prepare patients for surgery and assist with anesthesia monitoring and recovery under the veterinarian's supervision. Place IV catheters, collect blood and other laboratory samples, and perform in-house laboratory testing. Take high-quality digital radiographs. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in condition. Educate clients on medications, preventive care, post-operative care, and home care instructions. Maintain accurate medical records in our practice management software. Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, surgery, and the hospital clean, organized, and well-stocked. Follow all hospital safety and sanitation protocols. Support your teammates to ensure excellent patient care and a positive client experience. Only applicants with at least three years of veterinary assistant experience in a companion animal veterinary hospital will be considered.
