Company Overview Covington Veterinary Clinic has been a trusted small animal practice serving Newton and surrounding counties for over 65 years. This is an exciting time to join a growing practice! At the end of 2026, Covington Veterinary Clinic will merge with Sigman Veterinary Clinic into a brand new, 4,000 sq foot state-of-art veterinary facility located on the current Covington Vet Clinic property. Job Summary We are seeking a full-time, experienced Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in veterinary medicine, animal handling, and clinical procedures, with a passion for delivering exceptional care to clients and patients. This role involves supporting veterinarians in medical, surgical, and diagnostic tasks while ensuring the highest standards of animal care and client service. This position requires previous experience. Duties Daily care of hospitalized patients, boarders and facility: feeding, watering, walking, cleaning, laundry, bathing, monitoring pets' general well-being, etc. Restrain pets safely and compassionately during exams and procedures. Assist doctors and licensed technician in exam rooms, with treatments, and diagnostic procedures such as restraining for exams, performing blood draws and catheter placements; taking radiographs, prepping for surgeries, anesthetic monitoring (if experienced), client education, etc. Run in-house lab equipment. Handle appropriate lab samples (blood, urine, feces, ear cytologies, etc) for in-house testing and reference lab testing. Dispensing and administering oral medications as directed. Basic knowledge of vaccines and common veterinary procedures. Familiarity with veterinary/medical terms and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Excellent client communication skills. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and cooperative working relationship with fellow staff members. Must be reliable and have dependable transportation! LVT Specific Duties in addition to the duties listed above; Induce, intubate, maintain, and monitor anesthesia and surgical recovery Surgical assistance Perform dental x-rays and prophys Proficient in dosage calculations Administer IV, IM, and SQ medications under direction of the veterinarian
Requirements:
Previous experience working as a veterinary assistant required. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members. Positive attitude with a willingness to learn!
LVT:
Degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program and a current state veterinary technician license in Georgia. At least 1 year of licensed experience preferred. Salary dependent on experience and credentialing. Benefits include competitive pay, medical insurance, PTO, and paid holidays. A 3% matching company contribution to a retirement plan (American Mutual Funds) is available after 1 year of employment. LVTs will also have licenses, dues, and a CE allowance.
Pay:
$14.00 - $22.00 per hour
