Evening Kennel Assistant Position Summary Our veterinary hospital is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate Evening Kennel Assistant to join our team. This position plays an important role in ensuring our hospitalized and boarding patients receive excellent care while helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient hospital. The ideal candidate enjoys working with animals, has a strong work ethic, pays attention to detail, and is willing to assist wherever needed. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide daily care for hospitalized and boarding pets, including: Feeding and providing fresh water Walking and exercising dogs Monitoring patient comfort and reporting concerns to veterinary staff Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and treatment areas according to hospital protocols. Wash dishes, laundry, bedding, and other pet care items. Keep the hospital clean by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, taking out trash, and sanitizing surfaces. Restock exam rooms, treatment areas, and other hospital supplies. Assist veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants with animal restraint and patient handling during examinations and treatments. Help prepare rooms and equipment for patient care. Ensure all animal housing areas remain clean, safe, and comfortable. Follow hospital safety and sanitation protocols at all times. Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient care and hospital needs. Perform other duties as assigned to support the veterinary team. Qualifications Comfortable working around animals that may be sick, injured, or frightened. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently while remaining a team player. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to follow instructions and maintain a clean, professional environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the shift. Frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds; occasionally assist with animals weighing more than 40 pounds with team assistance. Ability to safely restrain animals when needed. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and around cleaning chemicals, animal waste, and pet hair. Schedule Evening shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed. Part-time or full-time opportunities may be available depending on hospital needs.
