Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. This role provides essential support in animal care, client communication, and clinic operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal husbandry, veterinary procedures, and excellent animal handling skills. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment committed to providing exceptional pet care and veterinary services. Duties Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations and treatments Administer medications and vaccinations following veterinary protocols Perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, bathing, and grooming pets Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment using aseptic techniques Support laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing Manage front desk responsibilities including client check-in, appointment scheduling, and billing Monitor animals' vital signs and overall condition during hospital stays or treatments Assist with pet care activities such as walking dogs and caring for hospitalized animals Maintain detailed records of treatments, medications, and patient histories using veterinary terminology Skills Prior kennel experience, animal husbandry, or veterinary clinic experience preferred Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, and equines Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures Experience with medication administration, animal catheterization, and aseptic techniques Ability to perform animal restraint safely for procedures such as injections or examinations Front desk skills including customer service, communication, and pet record management Familiarity with pet care routines including pet nutrition and basic veterinary care practices Experience with dog handling and equine care is a plus Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Compassionate attitude towards animals and clients with excellent teamwork skills
