Veterinary Assistant and Technician

Duties Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection (including blood collection). Provide high-quality animal husbandry and care, ensuring animals are comfortable, clean, and well-fed. Maintain accurate records of medical treatments, laboratory tests, and patient histories using veterinary terminology. Support laboratory work such as sample processing and diagnostic testing to aid in accurate diagnoses. Handle animals safely during examinations and procedures, demonstrating expertise in dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and animal physiology. Administer medications via various routes including oral, injectable, or topical applications while adhering to aseptic techniques. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing client communications, and maintaining organized pet care records. Contribute to pet care routines including feeding, cleaning kennels or cages, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of illness or distress. Uphold safety standards through proper use of veterinary equipment and adherence to infection control protocols. Qualifications Prior experience working with animals in a veterinary clinic or similar setting is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of animal handling techniques across various species including dogs and horses. Experience with kennel management, pet care routines, and animal restraint methods. Applicants must be able to hold/ lift 50lbs. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform medication administration accurately and safely. Ability to draw blood and place IV catheters in patients of all sizes. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members effectively. A background in veterinary medicine or veterinary clinic experience is desirable.
