Full Job Description Veterinary Technician/ Experienced Veterinary Assistant Job Description:
Grand Prairie Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Technician/Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Assistants and Technicians play an important role providing medical care to animals by assisting Veterinarians. This position requires a working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases, and preventative healthcare. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, with experience working in veterinary clinics. Duties Support front desk operations such as client check-in and appointment scheduling and client communication. Perform laboratory procedures such as sample processing and basic diagnostic testing. Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures. Monitor animal patients before, during and after surgical procedures. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient including creation of surgical and procedural treatment plans. Provide client education on pet care, nutrition, and health maintenance. Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments. Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.
Position Requirements:
Employee needs to be self-motivated and able stay on task Employee needs to be able to multi-task Employee must have proper phone etiquette, and be able to communicate well with co-workers and clients Employee must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours. Employee is required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs without assistance Employees will be required to restrain and care for unruly/aggressive dogs and cats
