Job Description

The South Suburban Humane Society is a busy managed admission shelter in far south suburban Matteson--easily accessible from I-57 and Lincoln Highway.
The Intake Specialist:
Prepares am/pm medications as prescribed by our veterinarian and distributes them Assists with vaccinations, diagnostics, and health monitoring. Interface with the public for surrender appointments and assist police officers with stray impounds; assists owners in keeping their pets through our safety net programs; helps reunite lost pets. Cleans and maintains a sanitary work environment in intake Fills in as an animal care associate and cleans kennels when a call off occurs The applicant must have thorough knowledge of the care and handling of companion animals. Ideal candidate must be free of all animal allergies and must love pets. The most ideal candidate has some college in veterinary assistant or veterinary technician. Must possess a valid US Driver's License. Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to stand for long periods, bend at waist, and kneel frequently.
