Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated emergency veterinary team as an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Assistant working as a full time staff member while only working 3 overnight shifts a week! This vital role offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will provide compassionate animal care during overnight hours. Your energetic support will ensure that our patients receive timely attention, comfort, and critical care when they need it most. If you thrive in a lively setting, possess a passion for animal welfare, and are eager to make a difference during overnight shifts, this position is perfect for you! You will work closely with veterinary professionals to assist in the treatment and stabilization of emergency cases, ensuring every pet receives the highest standard of care in a compassionate and efficient manner. Responsibilities Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint, medication administration, and basic procedures during overnight shifts. Monitor hospitalized patients, providing routine checks and responding swiftly to urgent needs or changes in condition. Support animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning, and maintaining clean and safe kennel environments. Handle incoming calls to coordinate patient care or relay critical information to team members. Restrain animals safely using appropriate techniques for examinations or treatments, including dog/cat handling and animal physiology considerations. Maintain accurate records of treatments, medications administered, and patient progress following aseptic techniques. Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection or processing to aid in diagnostics and treatment planning. This position comes with a set weekly schedule that consists of:
  • Wednesdays into Thursdays 8:00pm-8:00am
  • Thursdays into Fridays 8:00pm-8:00am
  • Fridays into Saturdays 8:00pm-8:00am Skills Previous veterinary assistant experience combined with animal husbandry skills to ensure optimal care for hospitalized pets.
Veterinary clinic experience Strong animal handling skills with knowledge of dog/cat handling, animal restraint, and pet care best practices. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for emergency care. Experience with front desk duties is a plus.
