Smith Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced, Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You must be a compassionate, self-motivated, reliable team player, who enjoys working in a fun, fast paced environment. Our goal is to interview and assess qualities/skills that will best fit our needs as a Veterinary Assistant. You will work very closely with our veterinarian and staff members in all aspects of their daily duties. Must have experience working with animals in a veterinary environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist doctor in restraint and treatment of patients Prepare examination room for clients and doctor Prepare medication and medication labels for patient Educate clients on how to administer medications at home Prepare vaccines and input charges/notes into Cornerstone Be able to prepare and run in-house lab tests including fecals Release patients to owner with direction of doctor Assist front desk as needed Keeps all areas of the clinic clean and neat and fully stocked

Qualifications and Skills:

One (1) year previous experience in animal care or clinic (Required) High School diploma or equivalent Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently Safe and proper handing of animals during examination and treatment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Well organized and attention to detail Flexible hours are required Physical ability to restrain larger pets when necessary and lift 50 lb The staff here at Smith Animal Clinic is committed to working as a team to provide the best possible care to our clients and patients.
