At Arbor View, we don't want experienced veterinary assistants spending their careers doing the same handful of tasks every day. We want you using the skills you already have and building a whole lot more. You'll work alongside veterinarians and veterinary nurses who believe great medicine happens when everyone on the team is trained, trusted and able to contribute. And because this is Arbor View, you never quite know what might walk, hop, slither or fly through the door. We see plenty of dogs and cats, but we also have a heavy exotic caseload and provide care for everything from rabbits, birds and reptiles to some considerably less ordinary patients. We also rehabilitate injured wildlife. Never worked with exotics before? That's okay. We'll teach you! What we do want is an experienced veterinary assistant who's excited to learn. Our experienced veterinary assistants:

Work alongside our doctors and RVTs during appointments, diagnostics and treatments Gather patient histories and help keep appointments moving smoothly Safely handle and restrain dogs, cats and a wide variety of exotic species Place IV catheters and collect blood and other diagnostic samples Administer medications and treatments under veterinary direction Assist with anesthesia, surgical preparation and patient recovery Develop laboratory skills including cytology, gram stains and running in-house bloodwork Care for hospitalized patients and carry out treatment plans Educate clients and reinforce veterinarian recommendations Assist with advanced diagnostics and procedures Learn to anticipate what the doctor, RVT and patient need before they have to ask Already great at some of those things? Fantastic. Still developing others? Let's work on them. We're not looking for someone who knows everything. We're looking for someone with a solid veterinary foundation who wants to keep getting better. Why Arbor View? You'll keep learning. Your first year here shouldn't look exactly like your fifth. We invest in training and want our assistants continuing to build clinical knowledge, technical skills, confidence and independence. You won't get bored. We're an AAHA-accredited hospital with CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, in-house diagnostics and a substantial exotic caseload. You'll work around advanced medicine diagnostics and have opportunities to learn things you may not encounter in a typical general practice. Exotics don't have to be something you already know. If you come to us with strong dog-and-cat experience, we'll help you build from there. You'll learn handling, husbandry and patient care for species you may never have worked with before. Your role matters. Great veterinary assistants make everyone around them better. They anticipate needs, notice details, communicate, solve problems and help doctors and RVTs spend their time doing the things that require their training. We recognize the difference between someone who simply completes assigned tasks and someone who truly helps drive the day. There is room to grow. What we're looking for At least 1 year of hands-on veterinary hospital experience Full-time or part-time availability Ability to work a rotating combination of day, evening and Saturday shifts Strong animal-handling and restraint skills Attention to detail and good time-management skills Reliability and accountability Strong client communication A team-first attitude Curiosity and a genuine desire to learn The ability to recognize what needs to be done and jump in A sense of humor is highly recommended Pay is $16-$24/hour, based on experience, demonstrated skills, independence, the responsibilities you're ready to take on and our tier system.
