Job Description

Job Summary The Purdue Veterinary Hospital is looking for enthusiastic veterinary assistants to join our large animal team. Veterinary assistants are responsible for maintaining a clean and stocked hospital, providing basic animal care needs, and helping the team work more efficiently to complete orders and patient treatments. Tasks include patient restraint, set-up, and clean-up for specific procedures including knowledge of specific equipment, stocking and cleaning of patient care areas, and transportation of equipment and supplies between all areas of the hospital. This position will be working with our inpatient treatment team and work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends, and some holiday coverage. What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
Required:
High School Diploma/GED 3 years of barn experience, with extensive hands-on work involving horses, such as routine care, behavioral observation, administering basic treatments, and maintaining a safe and organized barn environment.
Skills Needed:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations Ability to read and write in English Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally Must have confidence around equine and farm animals (companion and production) and basic knowledge of animal husbandry
