Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking an •experienced• Registered Veterinary Technician OR Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a single doctor private practice focused mainly on companion animal medicine and surgery at this time, and our practice is growing quickly! We are looking for someone to welcome into our team that can help us grow and maintain high standards of care while also providing an excellent client experience. This role requires a high level of personal motivation and accountability, as well as a dedication to continuous learning, professionalism, developing technical skills, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures Handle and restrain animals during treatment Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment Administer and/or dispense medications as directed by veterinarians Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic Monitor and record vital signs of patients Enter information into the patient's electronic medical record (Covetrus Pulse software) in a timely, detailed, and accurate fashion (we utilize CoVet AI Scribe which can help you achieve this) Understand and discuss vaccine protocols and commonly used preventative products with clients Handle phone conversations with clients as directed by veterinarians Assist in taking x-rays of patients (dental and routine radiographs) Draw blood from patients (cephalic, saphenous, jugular) Run in-house lab equipment (IDEXX) and prepare send-out lab samples Licensed technicians will be expected and trained to have a high level of independence, and our goal is to utilize licensed professionals in a way that allows them to practice to the fullest extent their license and the state practice act allows
Requirements:
Previous experience in animal care or veterinary settings is preferred Knowledge of aseptic techniques for handling medical equipment Ability to perform basic pet care tasks such as feeding, grooming, and walking animals Familiarity with animal behavior Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for interacting with pet owners and veterinary staff Willingness to learn new skills and passion for continued education Willingness to be a team player and pitch in wherever help is needed Ability to bend, crouch, and lift up to 50+ lbs Consistent attendance and timeliness Reliable transportation Pay will be based on experience and whether the applicant is licensed/unlicensed.
