Full Job Description Job Summary:
Looking for Part-Time (Possible Full-Time Opportunity) Seasonal Veterinary Assistant for coverage in Lexington, KY from May-October. Position will be working directly under a sport horse veterinarian in a private ambulatory practice. Great opportunity for veterinary or animal therapy students. Experience with horses is a must but will train the right person to strengthen skills with a strong work ethic and passion for equine care. Opportunity to learn Therapeutic Modalities including Shockwave, Laser Therapy, and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES).
Location:
Lexington, KY Position:
Part-Time coverage May through November (seasonal). Opportunity for year-round full-time position requiring travel to Wellington, FL November-April.
Hours:
TBD - 3-5
days a week - Flexible schedule, some weekend hours required
Compensation:
Competitive hourly wage
Key Responsibilities:
 Must be able to lift and carry 50+lbs  Truck inventory, re-stocking, organization, loading and cleaning as needed.  Ability to move around and jog horses in a safe manner for evaluations, comfortable handling/restraining horses  Setting up equipment and assisting for diagnostics - Radiographs, Ultrasound  Assist in bloodwork/lab preparations and shipping/dropping off samples to local labs.  Prepping/Scrubbing horses to ensure safe procedures  Self-motivated and have willingness to learn as the role can include opportunity to learn other therapeutic modalities that may be utilized independently by assistant.  Report directly to supervising veterinarian and manager as needed/directed.
Required Qualifications:
 Experience working with horses required, 1-2 years  Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.  Dependable and positive attitude, must be able to work well under pressure in a quick-moving environment  This person must portray themselves professionally, communicate effectively, be punctual, and maintain patient confidentiality.
