Job Description
Overview This is not an entry level position...at least 1 year experience required. Highland Veterinary Hospital is a small, family owned veterinary practice that has been in business for over 40 years. We focus on personalized, caring, affordable care. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Vet Tech to join our team. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service to pet owners while ensuring the smooth operation of our veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and a strong understanding of veterinary practices, allowing them to effectively communicate with clients and support our veterinary staff. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during appointments, examinations, treatments, and procedures. Obtain diagnostic samples including blood, urine, and other laboratory specimens. Perform in-house laboratory testing and assist with diagnostics. Take high-quality digital radiographs using proper positioning techniques. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Educate clients on medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and discharge instructions. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation. Prepare, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and treatment areas. Work collaboratively with veterinarians, assistants, client service representatives, and the entire hospital team to provide outstanding patient care. Greet clients and their pets in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail. Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently. Handle phone calls, emails, and inquiries regarding services, treatments, and pet care. Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality patient care. Qualifications Previous experience in a veterinary setting is required. Min. 1 yr. Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures i Skills in animal restraint techniques are essential for assisting during examinations. Proficiency in laboratory procedures will be considered an asset. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing records and appointments. Strong computer skill are required.
