Join our thriving, privately owned 5-doctor practice in beautiful Portland, Maine! We are looking for an experienced, passionate Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative team. Your Day-to-Day Doctor & Tech Support:
Assist with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures, Reception help, answering phones, client communication and scheduling
Patient Care:
Administer medications, vaccines, and monitor hospitalized pets, Obtain patient history and vitals
Lab Work:
Run essential diagnostic tests, blood draws, and urinalysis.
Comfort & Grooming:
Perform low-stress restraint, baths, nail trims, and ear cleanings.
Client Connection:
Provide compassionate communication and updates to pet parents.
What We Are Looking For Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant in a clinic setting
Skills:
Confident in safe, low-stress animal handling and restraint. Advocate for low stress handling restraint and patient wellbeing, able to pay attention to detail and multitask. Strong communication skills
Knowledge:
Familiarity with veterinary terminology, anatomy, and clinical protocols, Preventive care, obtaining accurate and relevant patient history
Lab Savvy:
Experience with basic laboratory work and aseptic techniques.
Drive:
A desire to learn advanced skills like catheterization or critical care.

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
