Job Description

Pytel Veterinary Clinic , a private practice in Goodrich is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and demonstrate proficiency in supporting veterinary professionals. The Veterinary Assistant will be instrumental in providing compassionate pet care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of our veterinary practice. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and LVTs during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures by preparing animals, maintaining aseptic techniques, and handling animal restraint with confidence. Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostic testing to support accurate veterinary diagnoses. Support animal husbandry activities including feeding, grooming, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring proper pet care standards are maintained. Qualifications Prior experience in a veterinary clinic with knowledge of companion animal medicine is required. Demonstrated proficiency in animal handling, restraint techniques, and basic veterinary procedures such as animal anatomy knowledge and aseptic technique. Experience with laboratory work related to veterinary diagnostics is preferred. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology combined with excellent communication skills for effective team collaboration. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting animals while assisting the veterinary technician and veterinarian.
