Job Description

Do you love animals? Northland Veterinary Clinic is currently accepting applications for the veterinary assistant/technician position. Veterinary assistants/technicians must have exceptional client service and communication skills, strong computer skills, proficiency in spelling and grammar, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks, willingness to learn, and the confidence to deal with stressful situations. The ideal candidate must be a friendly, reliable, detail oriented, motivated individual who is dedicated to helping provide outstanding care to all of our wonderful clients and patients. The full-time veterinary assistant/technician works 30+ hours a week and one Saturday a month with a casual on-call schedule. Prior veterinary experience is preferred, but not required. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assists the veterinarian team in providing animal care services to clients and patients Handles animals with care and restrains hard to control animals following established methods Cleans and disinfects kennel area, examination area, and general work area Assists in administering medication to animals as prescribed by the veterinarians Keeps and maintains accurate medical histories and logs Assists in performing routine laboratory tests or diagnostics as requested by the veterinarians Assists with administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and checking patients in and out Maintains complete confidentiality •Prior medical experience is helpful. Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be reliable, responsible, and flexible. There is potential exposure to animal bites and other health risks. Must be honest and ethical, and able to adhere to strict client confidentiality restrictions. Must have knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, composition, and grammar (written and verbal). Pay rate is dependent on previous veterinary experience.
