Twin Ports Spay/Neuter in Duluth, MN is looking for a talented Veterinary Assistant/Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team at our affordable spay/neuter clinic. The three-fourths time position is open to Veterinary Assistants/Certified Veterinary Technicians looking to make a long-term career out of their passion for animal welfare. Our clinic provides much needed, affordable services to members of the community as well as shelters and rescues. We are looking for an animal loving and driven individual that works well in both a team and detail oriented veterinary setting.
Job Description:
Clean and Sterilize equipment throughout the clinic Weigh and restrain animals for various procedures and surgeries Clean cages/kennels and provide daily feeding/exercise/grooming of animals if needed Fill prescription medications ordered by the Veterinarians. Administer medication to patients prescribed by Veterinarians Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the assigned Veterinarian and/or Veterinary Technician. Assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with monitoring patients under anesthesia for surgeries and/or dental procedures. Assist the Receptionists in handling administrative duties such asanswering phones, scheduling appointments, checking patients in Take notes and keep accurate records of patient care in the computer veterinary software. Other duties as assigned. Skills Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant, Certified Veterinary Technician, or similar position working with animals is desired, but not necessary. Current or former pet ownership is an advantage Excellent communication skills Patient and caring personality Ability to follow instructions properly Comfortable being around and restraining cats and dogs Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs) Availability to occasionally work in emergencies
