Job Description

Must love animals! We are a one-doctor practice with decades of experience in veterinary medicine. Our small, hardworking team is seeking a motivated Veterinary Assistant with a passion for providing high-quality care to companion animals. Only qualified candidates will be considered. This job requires a 40-hour week. Compliance with clinic safety and employee policy is mandatory and expected. Contact with clients, patients, and other staff in an often noisy and fast-paced environment. The Veterinary Assistant should be comfortable around all animals. Military and veterans strongly encouraged to apply.
Daily Responsibilities:
Patient care: Surgery prep/ patient monitoring/ post surgery care Assist in physical exams Provide sick-patient care Restrain animals Toe nail trim and anal gland expression Administer medications/ fill prescriptions Diagnostic duties: Cytology Radiography Urinalysis Blood drawing Heartworm testing Administrative duties: Answering client calls Returning/ relaying messages Following up with clients to check on patients Assist with client checkout process Cleaning and sanitation: Cleaning exam rooms Cleaning kennels Equipment maintenance

The ideal candidate is empathetic and dedicated with excellent customer service skills and a strong work ethic. Our practice is to educate staff and clients about treatments, diagnoses, and procedures. We aim to build mutual respect between all parties.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred) One year of veterinary or animal care experience (required) Is eager to learn through education and hands-on training Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills Ability to work calmly under pressure and in fast-paced environments Demonstrates professionalism and fair judgment Hold characteristics of ambitious, proactive, and resourceful Able to stand for prolonged period of time Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
