North Pointe Veterinary Hospital is a privately-owned and operated urgent care and general practice located in St. Joseph, MO. The hospital is dedicated to providing high-quality care for pets and exceptional service to their owners in the St. Joseph, MO, Northwest Missouri, and surrounding areas. In addition to preventative medicine, The North Pointe team also aims to offer 24/7 hospitalization and emergency services.
Position Summary:
We're seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced general and urgent care team. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, communicates clearly, and is dedicated to ensuring every patient receives the best care possible. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll assist veterinarians with a wide variety of medical procedures, triage patients, and provide comfort and education to pet owners during stressful situations. This role requires strong communication skills, multitasking abilities, and a calm, professional demeanor under pressure. Successful applicants will also possess a collaborative team spirit that contributes positively to our hospital's working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians in exam rooms and treatment areas with diagnostics, procedures, and patient monitoring Perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and basic wound care Administer medications and maintain accurate medical records Monitor patients under anesthesia and during recovery Triage incoming patients and communicate with clients about care needs and treatment options Maintain cleanliness and organization in exam and treatment areas Provide compassionate, professional customer service to clients during urgent and emotional visits Develop a strong understanding of our veterinary software and systems
Qualifications:
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT);OR equivalent on-the-job experience Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience (urgent care or emergency experience a plus) Strong technical and communication skills Ability to multitask and remain calm in fast-paced, high-stress situations Dedication to teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement
