Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care! This energetic role offers the opportunity to work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and pet owners to ensure animals receive compassionate, professional treatment. You will assist in clinical procedures, animal handling, and client communication, all while gaining invaluable experience in a fast-paced, pet-focused environment. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with animal restraint and handling. Prepare treatment areas, surgical instruments, and supplies to ensure smooth clinical operations. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under supervision while following aseptic techniques. Support pet owners by providing pet care advice and explaining treatment plans clearly. Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, laboratory tests, and medication administration. Handle animal intake and discharge at the front desk, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications. Support laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing to aid in diagnostics. Requirements Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background demonstrating familiarity with animal care routines. Experience working in veterinary clinics or with veterinary technicians is highly preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and restraint techniques. Ability to handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and equines with confidence and compassion. Proficiency in medication administration, aseptic techniques, and laboratory procedures related to veterinary care. Strong communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members effectively.
