Job Description
Overview Join our Large Animal veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting veterinary professionals with essential clinical and client service duties. Your role will be vital in ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, safety, and client satisfaction while gaining valuable experience across various aspects of veterinary medicine. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile fields, and providing animal restraint using proper techniques. Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning pens, and ensuring overall cleanliness of the clinic environment. Handle animals safely using appropriate restraint methods for various species including cattle, horses, and other farm animals. Administer medications and injections, and assist with laboratory testing to support diagnostic processes. Maintain accurate record keeping Support front desk operations by communicating effectively with clients, scheduling appointments, managing patient intake forms, and providing excellent customer service. Requirements Prior experience working in a veterinary clinic is highly preferred Demonstrated animal handling skills across different species with confidence in restraint and behavior assessment. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and basic surgical procedures is helpful Experience with medication administration, laboratory procedures, and aseptic techniques Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration Ability to perform physical tasks such as restraining animals safely, standing for extended periods, cleaning pens, and maintaining a clean work environment.
